Brosso: Depth, Energy, and Musicality

Brosso is a producer, mixing and mastering engineer, and educator whose music lives at the intersection of depth, energy, and musicality. Born in Siberia and now based in Asia, his path through the underground has taken him from self-taught bedroom producer to a name on labels like Bonzai Progressive, Interplay, and Reload Black Label — with a teaching platform, a second alias in Davasco, and a global network built one collaboration at a time. This is his story in his own words.

🎤 You've been based in Moscow for 12 years in a globally connected underground scene. How has your geographic location shaped your sound and artistic identity over that time?

I spent most of my life in a small town in Siberia, Russia, where my passion for electronic music first began. From an early stage, I became deeply fascinated by music production and dedicated countless hours to learning every aspect of the craft, drawing knowledge from a wide range of online resources and communities.

As I started releasing my music on international labels, I realised that I wanted to be closer to larger creative and professional opportunities. This led me to move first to Saint Petersburg and later to Moscow, where I continued to develop my career and expand my network within the music industry.

Over time, I began performing at various venues and events, which opened the door to travelling around the world. Travelling has become one of my greatest sources of inspiration. Different cultures, landscapes, and environments constantly spark new ideas and influence both my creative process and artistic vision.

Today, I live in Asia, where I continue to create music, explore new perspectives, and draw inspiration from the places and people around me.

🎤 Your music sits at the intersection of Melodic Techno, Indie Dance, and Progressive House. If you had to describe that combination in three words, what would they be?

If I had to describe my sound in three words, they would be: depth, energy, and musicality.

These three elements define everything I create — immersive atmospheres, powerful momentum, and a strong musical foundation that brings emotion and meaning to the dance floor.

🎤 When you start building a track from scratch, what comes first — atmosphere, melody, or drums? Has that approach changed since you started teaching through BMP PRO SOUND?

My creative process usually starts with finding the main hook of a track. Most of the time, that comes from the groove — the combination of drums and bass. Once I feel that it has the right impact, that it hits you in the chest and creates a strong dancefloor energy, I know I have a solid foundation to build on.

That said, there are times when a track begins with a melody. If a strong musical idea comes first, I follow that inspiration and let it guide the direction of the production.

Through my BMP PRO SOUND courses, I encourage experimentation and share a variety of creative approaches with my students. I believe there is no single formula for making great music, so I focus on helping producers discover different workflows and develop a process that works best for their own artistic vision.

🎤 What's your philosophy on collaboration — how do you know when it's the right fit, and what does a successful creative partnership actually look like from the inside?

I believe that a successful collaboration happens when two artists complement each other rather than doing the same thing. What excites me most is bringing together different perspectives, skills, and creative approaches.

Sometimes I hear something in another artist’s work that really stands out to me — whether it’s a unique synth line, an innovative production technique, interesting effects, a distinctive groove, or simply the quality and character of their mixdowns. When that happens, I become curious about what we could create together by combining our experiences and strengths.

For me, collaboration is an opportunity to step outside my usual creative habits, exchange ideas, and discover something new that neither artist would have created alone.

🎤 Can you share what the HEAVENUS collaboration with ROMAN CIGI was like — and what made this particular project stand out from others you've worked on?

I've been working with Roman for quite some time, so there was already a strong creative connection between us. When I first heard HEAVENUS, I was immediately drawn to its energy and the synth work. Right away, I could imagine how those elements would translate into my deeper, more hypnotic techno sound.

By combining Roman's original vision with my own approach to groove, atmosphere, and depth, we were able to create something that feels fresh while still respecting the essence of the original track. The result was a remix that brought together two distinct musical identities and evolved into something truly unique.

🎤 You work as both a producer and a mixing & mastering engineer. How does having both skills change the way you hear & build a track compared to someone who only produces?

A common challenge I see among producers is that they become too focused on achieving a polished sound from the very beginning of the creative process. They spend a lot of time on mixing details and technical refinements before the core idea of the track is fully developed.

Without enough experience, this can sometimes lead to frustration and a loss of creative momentum, leaving a promising idea unfinished as just another demo. On the other hand, some producers prefer to work quickly, focusing entirely on capturing their creative vision and then handing the track over to a mixing and mastering engineer.

Personally, I take a different approach. I prefer to handle every stage of the process myself because I’m constantly searching for my own signature sound. While professional mixing and mastering services can achieve excellent technical results, there are times when the final product no longer reflects the artist’s original vision. For me, maintaining creative control throughout the entire production process is essential. It allows me to ensure that the final track sounds exactly the way I imagined it from the very beginning.

🎤 You run your own YouTube channel and education platform BMP PRO SOUND, alongside your artist projects. What made you want to teach, and what's the single most important thing you want students to walk away with?

Over time, I started receiving messages from producers and music enthusiasts from different cities and countries. Many of them were curious about how I achieved my sound, the techniques I used, and the creative decisions behind my productions.

As the number of students grew, I realised there was a real demand for structured education and a deeper look into my workflow. That inspired me to launch my YouTube channel and create my own online courses, where I could share my knowledge and experience with a wider audience.

Another reason is much simpler — I genuinely enjoy teaching. I find it incredibly rewarding to help others develop their skills, overcome creative challenges, and discover their own unique sound.

🎤 After 12 years releasing across labels like Bonzai Progressive, Interplay, and Reload Black Label — what's your honest view on the balance between commercial success and underground credibility today?

It’s difficult to give a simple answer. Today’s music market is incredibly saturated, especially within the underground scene, where the competition is stronger than ever.

Rather than limiting myself to a single direction, I enjoy creating different types of music, including more commercial and streaming-oriented releases. I prefer to follow inspiration and the mood of the moment, allowing me to explore different styles and connect with a wider audience while staying authentic to my creative vision.

I also have a second project, Davasco, which gives me the freedom to focus on a different sonic identity and experiment more extensively with new ideas, sounds, and production techniques. Having multiple creative outlets helps me stay inspired and continue evolving as an artist.

🎤 Looking back across 12 years — what's the one thing you wish you'd known at the beginning that would have genuinely changed how you approached your career?

If I could start my career over again, I would invest much more time in creating content and building meaningful relationships within the industry from the very beginning. Networking and connecting with the right people can open doors to opportunities that are just as important as musical talent.

I would also make a conscious effort to stay aligned with the evolution of the music scene and understand what resonates with audiences at any given moment. At the same time, I believe it’s essential to maintain your own artistic identity. For me, the goal is not to follow trends blindly, but to interpret contemporary sounds through my own vision and creative perspective.

🎤 With Brosso, Davasco, BMP PRO SOUND, and new projects ahead — what collaboration or release are you most excited about that you can tease right now?

At the moment, I’m focused on exploring new ideas and pushing my creativity in different directions. I’m constantly searching for fresh inspiration and new ways to evolve my sound.

In the near future, I have several exciting releases and collaborations coming out, including projects with my friends from Sunbios and KOFA. These upcoming works showcase different sides of my musical identity and explore a variety of sounds and creative approaches. I’m looking forward to sharing them with listeners and seeing how people connect with this new chapter of my journey.
